Adapting to Change

COVID 19 arrived and our lives changed.

Schools and businesses were shut down, and the streets were silent. Those with school age children had to juggle working from home and helping the kids. Coming to grips with new tech, online learning tools and platforms, Zoom meetings and phone calls. The dinner table became a multi purpose shared school desk and office space. We had to keep track of chargers and untangle kids headphones, whilst following schedules, timetables and adhearing to deadlines.

We had to unpack our preconceived notions of ourselves, our assumptions and our beliefs.

Whether we wanted to or not, daily life changed suddenly and this was reality – and we adapted, we had to do it.

Adaptability is an important survival skill. It is important because it allows us to see the possibilities, the gaps, and the magical spaces available to us where we can grow.

When you see us next, you would be forgiven for thinking that you’ve entered outer space. COVID 19 has changed our working environment and we will look different too. We will be gowned up, masks and face shields on, and all the chairs will be spaced out for social distancing.

During the lockdown, the NFD team came together stronger than ever. We are a resourceful bunch. We looked for those gaps and magical spaces to learn and grow, and to plan for the future so that we can be better than ever and to be ready to receive our wonderful patients and to welcome new patients. Our doors open again on Monday 28th September and we can’t wait to see you.
